Govt hacked my phone using Pegasus to topple Karnataka govt: G Parameshwara

WHAT?

Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has alleged that the central government hacked his mobile phone using Pegasus spyware to "topple" the Congress government in Karnataka.

HOW?

Parameshwara was reacting to media reports suggesting that Pegasus spyware was used to snoop on Karnataka politicians including him.

Condemning the alleged snooping on his phone, G Parameshwara said the government owes an explanation to the nation.

"I don't know why the PMO or the home ministry did it. But they are running the government. What is the need to snoop on my phone?" Parameshwar asked.

G Parameshwara was a key member in the Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress coalition government in Karnataka. He was also part of the coordination committee that was formed to see the smooth sailing of this coalition government. Reports suggest his phone was allegedly put under surveillance during this period.
