The Tripura Police have registered an FIR against 23 election strategists from Prashant Kishor's I-PAC. All 23 have been served individual police notices summoning them to the police station on August 1 for questioning.

The members of I-PAC were detained by Tripura Police in a hotel in Agartala. This is in connection with the case registered against them under 51b of the Disaster Management Act. TMC has termed it a conspiracy of the BJP-led govt in Tripura.

The Tripura Police have registered an FIR against 23 election strategists from Prashant Kishor's I-PAC. All 23 have been served individual police notices summoning them to the police station on August 1 for questioning.

WHY?

The I-PAC team visited Agartala to assess the political situation and potential support base for the TMC. The members were placed under detention in a hotel since July 25 and questioned by the police.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Trinamool Congress is expected to visit Agartala today to take stock of the situation. TMC MP, who was recently appointed as party national general secretary, is expected to lead the delegation. However, there is no official confirmation on this.

It may be noted that Prashant Kishor was roped in by Mamata Banerjee to strategise TMC's election campaign for the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections. Banerjee-led Trinamool which faced a stiff competition from BJP registered a landslide victory in the Bengal polls.

It may also be noted that amid rumours that Mamata Banerjee making efforts to unite the Opposition to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Kishor recently met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
