As per the NWWealth’s India Wealth Report 2021, India is the 6-largest globally in terms of wealth held by individuals after the United States, China, Japan, Germany and the UK. India has the most billionaires after the US & China. 

Total wealth held by individuals in India amounted to a whopping $8.3 trillion. 45% of this wealth is held by High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) which is higher than the world average of 35%. The report adds that this is a potential risk.

As per the NWWealth’s India Wealth Report 2021, India is the 6-largest globally in terms of wealth held by individuals after the United States, China, Japan, Germany and the UK. India has the most billionaires after the US & China.

India was one of the world’s fastest-growing wealth markets over the past decade (between 2010 and 2020) with an HNWI growth of 63%. Only Vietnam, China and Mauritius outpaced wealth growth in the country during this period, it said.

India is home to more billionaires, each with net assets of more than $1 billion, more than any country on the planet barring the United States and China, the report added.

There are approximately 21,000 multi-millionaires, each with net assets of $10 million or more and 1,074 centi-millionaires, each with net assets of US$100 million or more.

Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru top the list of wealthiest cities in terms of private wealth held by all the individuals living in each city. Mumbai, with a total wealth of $959 billion, held by 29 billionaires, 58,100 HNWIs and 3,810 multi-millionaires, and tops the chart followed by Delhi which has 14 billionaires, 28,500 HNWIs and 1,930 multi-millionaires. India’s very own Silicon Valley Bengaluru boasts of 5 billionaires, 10,600 HNWIs and 10,600 multi-millionaires, holds number three position with a total wealth of $367 billion, according to the report released on Tuesday.
